This annual award recognizes SC companies’ efforts to reduce recordable occupational injuries and illnesses during the past year. To achieve this award SC employers must meet at least one of the following criteria for the private sector: (1) no recordable injuries or illnesses during calendar year 2021; (2) a reduction of at least 40% in the employer’s incidence rate between 2020 and 2021; (3) a difference of at least 75% in the employer’s 2021 incidence rate and the 2020 SC average rate for that industry; or (4) worked one million or more safe work hours without a lost-time injury or illness. “Being recognized for our safety record is a big deal,” explains Greg Thompson, CEO and president of Thompson Construction Group, Inc. “Safety is paramount in the construction industry and our leadership takes it very seriously. We are proud of the strides we have made toward improving, maintaining, and enhancing our safety culture while still making sure each employee who steps on one of our jobsites goes home safely to their family at the end of the day.” Regional Safety Manager for Thompson Turner Construction Richard Harker and Director of Marketing for Thompson Construction Group, Inc.
